    Keep the doors open

    The Chabad House never charges for a seat. Not on Rosh Hashanah, not on Yom Kippur, not on an ordinary Shabbat in February. A medical student on call, a patient's family who came uptown for the week, a neighbor who has not been to shul in twenty years: all of them walk in the same door and none of them are asked for a ticket.

    That only works because other people pay for it. This is the one time of year we ask.

    Students

    CCNY and Columbia Medical Center are both a walk from the shul. Students eat here, pray here, and pay nothing.

    The hospital

    Patients, families and staff at CUIMC who are uptown over the holidays and need somewhere to hear the shofar.

    Hamilton Heights

    Anyone in the neighborhood, whatever their background or affiliation, with a Kiddush waiting after davening.
