High Holidays at The Chabad House

Rosh Hashanah: Sept. 11 – 13, 2026
Yom Kippur: Sept. 20 – 21, 2026
Join us at The Chabad House for the High Holidays, where every Jew is welcome, regardless of background or affiliation.

Uplifting services and melodious prayers, with Hebrew/English prayer books that are easy to follow whether you daven every morning or haven’t been to shul in years. Students, doctors, professors and neighbors from across Hamilton Heights fill the room together.

Prayers are followed by a deluxe Kiddush, and there are festive meals running from Rosh Hashanah through Simchat Torah for anyone who wants a seat at the table.

Schedule of Services

Rosh Hashanah through Simchat Torah, service by service, with candle lighting and fast times for every day.

Erev Rosh Hashanah • Friday, Sept. 11, 2026

Rosh Hashanah Community Dinner

The first night of the year, around one long table. Round challah, apples and honey, a full holiday meal, and the kind of singing that keeps a room going long after dessert. Students, families and neighbors from across Hamilton Heights sit down together.

Shofar in the Park & Tashlich

We take the shofar outside. Hear the blasts in the open air, then Tashlich at the water’s edge to send off the year behind us. Bring the kids, and bring the friend who has never heard a shofar up close.

Sukkot & Simchat Torah

Dinner under the stars in the sukkah on the first two nights, then a family afternoon on the Quad. Through Chol Hamoed the sukkah comes to campus, with stops at City College and Columbia Medical Center for lunch between classes and rounds. It all closes with Simchat Torah, dancing with the Torah until the room runs out of breath.
